Shannon O'Connell will be joining us at the gallery to demonstrate how she creates pieces using traditional beading techniques. By using the method taught to her by her mother and grandmother, she has discovered a way to paint with beads. Following this old tradition, her pieces are intended to be framed as opposed to worn. She uses some beads that are antique colors, but her color usage is in no way traditional. Her most treasured beads are ones that have been passed down to her. Other beads that are equally as special to her, she had to trade for at pow wows. Shannon will have a few completed pieces to display as well as her work in progress. Swing by to ask her questions and learn something new about this unique art form!
