Leanne Shunney

Leanne Shunney is an illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Burlington, Vermont. She grew up in the Hudson Valley on the border of the Berkshires and has a BFA in Illustration from Parsons the New School for Design. In 2014 she relocated from Manhattan to Vermont and began her business the following year. She currently runs her one-woman business out of her studio at the Soda Plant on Pine Street in Burlington.

“My inspiration comes from nature, color, and texture in the world around me and my creativity flows most freely when I work with my hands. I specialize in watercolor, gouache, graphite, colored pencil, ink, and screen printing. My illustrations hint at realism while bringing an emotive quality into play. I love working with both paper and textiles, frequently translating my illustrations between the two with the goal of creating a functional piece of art that you can hold in your hands.”
